Summary:
Kate Winters has won immortality. But if she wants a life with Henry in the Underworld, she’ll have to fight for it.

Becoming immortal wasn’t supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she’s as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he’s becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate’s coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans.

As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future.

Henry’s first wife, Persephone.

Post-“taste” Review:
Good book! Drags a little in the middle, plot-wise, but the character building makes up for it. Henry is kind of a butt for a while but it gets better. Promise.

Review:
This book was a little frustrating. Not because of the book…that doesn’t make sense, let me try again. It was frustrating because of the situation in the book. I could relate to what Kate was going through in SO many ways. It was ridiculous. I digress though.Summer is over and Kate heads back to Eden Manor for her 6 months in the Underworld with Henry, the girl is excited. I mean, who can blame her, she’s married to HENRY! His welcome is less than warm though, granted they are dealing with some pretty major problems down in the Underworld, Cronus is waking from his dream prison and wants revenge. He’s stronger than anything and he’s not working alone.

When Henry and half of the council are imprisoned somewhere in the Underworld it’s up to Kate to save them, with the help of James, Ava, and one unlikely ally. They have to find the council and the only other person who knows the Underworld as well as Henry is Persephone, and she’s the last person Kate wants to deal with. I really enjoyed that you got to see a lot more of James in this one and the interactions between him and Kate were interesting. They make you want know more about James’ past and what he’s been through. Persephone, on the other hand, I could have done with less of. I didn’t like her attitude and how mean she was, as though everyone else was there to be her puppets. I can’t say much more without giving things away but she bothered me.

Holy crap on a cracker! That ending, not even the ending, the epilogue! What a cliffhanger! I was so mad that I had to wait until Goddess Inheritance came out to find out what came after Henry rushing off the rescue Kate!
