Welcome to the second installment of Thursday Tea Break!
This is a fun, weekly series covering our get-togethers, what we are up to that week, and what books we are excited to get our hands on.
Tea of the Week:
Our tea this week is Teavana’s Ruby Spiced Cider. This tea has a strong cinnamon scent and flavor, with a subtle berry aftertaste that lend a hint of juciness. We ended up drinking the entire pot! It was great for a cold snowy day when you just want to be bundled up inside (with a good book).
None of us have done much reading in the last week, so we’re still making our way through the same books, but we are all enjoying them!
Erin is reading: Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi.
Lisa is reading: The Poison King: The Life and Legend of Mithradates, Rome’s Deadliest Enemy by Adrienne Mayor.
Our Current Obsessions:
Amanda and Lisa have been sucked into the Tomodachi Life 3DS game. It’s like a simpler version of The Sims for the 3DS with ridiculous voices, over-the-top situations, and epic musical numbers. If you haven’t played this game, you should definitely check this out. Amanda has been playing it since it released a few years ago, but Lisa just recently (because of Amanda) got the game and has been playing it ever since!
Amanda started watching Vikings. I don’t know why it took this long since she loves all things having to do with Vikings and Norse Mythology. It’s excellent! Bloody and somewhat graphic – they are Vikings, they lived a gruesome life – but so worth it if you are interested in them at all. The first episode drags a little bit, so if you watched that and then stopped, don’t! Keep watching, it gets better! Lagertha is the best right now, with Floki as a very close second.
Dragon Age: Inquisition was again a topic of discussion, this time because Lisa was thinking about trying to romance Iron Bull, and she wanted to know if that would be weird. (Which, I mean, if you ignore the top half of his face, he’s not that bad looking. —Erin) What do you guys think of Iron Bull?
Continuing the conversation from the previous week, we talked about the K-Drama Erin and Lisa are both watching, Cheese in the Trap. We agreed that Jung was kiiinda shady, but seems mostly good. We desperately want him and Seol to stay together. (Sorry, In Ho!)
Erin has a bit of on obsession with K-Pop, and wants to spread that obsession wherever she can. Which means—tada! Weekly song recommendations you didn’t ask for! This week, the album you should check out is “Act. 7” by 4minute. With a interesting, consistent sound and A++ vocals, this has quickly become one of my favorite 4minute albums. Tell me your favorite track in the comments, I can’t choose!
And finally, all the books that we’re excited for in the coming weeks!
Amanda can’t wait for A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro, releasing on March 1st.
Erin is looking forward to The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury, which is out next week, on February 23rd!
Lisa wants to get The Rogue by Katharine Ashe, also out on the 23rd.
Do you have any thoughts or opinions on anything that we’re excited about this week? Let us know in the comments! We’d love to start some conversations with our readers!
See you soon!
