Thursday Tea Break: Issue 5

Thursday Tea Break Header

Welcome to this week’s installment of Thursday Tea Break!

This is a fun, weekly series covering our get-togethers, what we are up to that week, and what books we are excited to get our hands on.

Tea of the Week:

Our tea this week is Octavia Tea’s Eight Immortals Dancong.

Processed with VSCOcam with 4 preset

This is a lovely, creamy Oolong tea that is harvest from wild tea bushes grown in China for over 100 years! We really loved how refreshing and clean this tea was and as an Oolong it had plenty of subtle flavor notes for us to pick out.

If you like a simple, straight tea this is an excellent choice for any time of year.

Our Current Reads

Amanda is reading Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard.

Erin has been reading The Forbidden Wish by Jessica Khoury.

Lisa is enjoying Spellcasting in Silk by Juliet Blackwell.

Projects

So we spent much of our time at this meeting discussing future projects for the blog but we’d like to get a bit of feedback, if we could.

We really enjoyed the “Songs we wish were books” topic from Top Ten Tuesdays a few weeks ago and have been working on a way to incorporate that into a regular feature here. We’ve come up with a couple of ideas, but we were wondering if anyone else had seen a way that this had been implemented to work well?

We’re currently working on a series of posts based around book covers that we love and designing outfits to fit the cover and the story as well as choosing songs to go with it. Does this interest anyone?

We’re also considering changing up how these tea break posts work. We are constantly trying to tweak things to make them better, and ultimately, more fun for you, our readers. Instead of talking about our current obsessions (usually TV, let’s face it) we have been discussing other options.

Right now we have projects —like the one we shared last week—that will have something to do with tea in some for or another, or baking/cooking with tea and sharing pictures and the recipes with you lovely people. We all love food and tea and baking/cooking and we would really like to share these passions with the rest of you in the best ways that we know how.

We’re going to have a give these ideas some trial runs in the next few weeks to see how we feel about them and how things play out, but during this time we would love to hear what you guys think!

Song of the Week

Erin has a bit of on obsession with K-Pop, and wants to spread that obsession wherever she can. Which means—tada! Weekly song recommendations you didn’t ask for!

Last week, Lee Hi released the first half of her second album, Seoulite, and all of the songs are amaaaazing. Check out “Official” below and bask in Lee Hi’s glorious voice. (My favorite is “Fxxk Wit Us“, but this is a family-friendly blog 🙂 )

Waiting For

Amanda is waiting for The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead, on shelves April 5th.

Erin is excited to get Golden by Melissa de la Cruz & Michael Johnston, releasing April 5th as well.

Lisa can’t wait for Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas, out May 31st.

What books are you excited for?
